Small Grants Guidance

Grittleton Parish Council is committed to supporting local voluntary and community groups and our small grants scheme could provide a financial boost to local projects benefitting residents in Grittleton, Leigh Delamere, Sevington, Littleton Drew and part of The Gibb. 

How it works

Each year Grittleton Parish Council agrees a budget for small grants to be made available to organisations working to benefit the local community. Applications are considered at scheduled parish council meetings. Only one application can be submitted in any one financial year ((starting 1 April).

Application forms should be completed and returned to the parish clerk, either in hard copy or electronically.  Our grants policy and application form are available on our website and, subject to available funds, are accepted throughout the year.  

Deadlines for applications will normally be two weeks ahead of meeting dates which are published on our website. Applicants are welcome to attend the meeting where an application is to be discussed and will anyway be contacted about the outcome of the council’s decision. 

Criteria

Your project will be eligible if it meets the following criteria:

·       It benefits the local community

·       Your organisation is non-profit making

·       You can supply a set of audited accounts for the previous financial year or basic financial information if you are just starting up

·       Your project will benefit all or some of the local community

Your application will not be considered for:

·       Political or religious activities

·       Statutory bodies to fund core services

·       Private profit-making or commercial organisations

·       Running costs such as rent, rates, electricity etc

·       Retrospective applications - projects that have already started

·       Individuals

Your obligations are that:

·       Where possible, grant funding should be spent before 31 March in the financial year it was awarded and any unused monies should be returned to the parish council

·       You agree to acknowledge Grittleton Parish Council’s financial support in any publicity or printed material

·       You agree to supply further information e.g. bank statements or contractor estimates if required
